Fully Loaded

This morning I loaded up my yogurt so much that I think there were more toppings than actual yogurt. But ya know what, that’s the only way I can enjoy thick, unsweetened greek yogurt.

I prefer to sweeten my food with my own variety of yumminess.

  • Oikos 0% Fat Yogurt
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Cinnamon
  • Raw Almonds
  • Goji Berries
  • Wild Blueberries
  • Kashi Go Lean Crunch

Eh, yeah I guess there’s some yogurt under there.

Plus a juicy clemintine.

And green tea!

Deliciously nutritious.

The gym is a must-do today.

Last night I went out with some friends and we ended up splitting an order of ‘Everything Wings.’ I haven’t even heard of them until last night. It’s like a curse now, I have been dreaming about them ever since…I want more. After becoming recently obsessed with ‘Everything Prezel Thins,’ I now want everything all the time.

So yeah… I probably should go to the gym so I can eat EVERYTHING.

LET IT SNOW

This morning I woke up and looked out the window to see:

Not gonna lie, I was excited.

It’s been a long time (uh like a year) since snow has graced me with its presence. Speaking of grace, I’m not so graceful when it comes to snow. Driving, walking, etc. is not an easy task for this girl (even without snow…).

K breakfast:

The rest of my Oikos mixed with some water to make it runnier (like milk), Kashi Go Lean Cereal, more almonds and pecans, cinnamon, and blueberries. SO GOOD! Better than yesterday.

I would also like to mention that I bought too much at the mall yesterday (with the help of a gift card- thanks, Grammy & Grandpa).

SO MANY great deals at Bath & Body.

Too many delicious smelling soaps and lotions and lippies.

I saw that GNC had an incredible gadget.

It was WAY on sale and has a juicer.

Too good to be true 😩

Turns out it kinda sucks (the juicing part at least) and I returned it today. How sad, it would have been perfect for me! Maybe I’ll buy a pair of boots instead? We’ll see.

Seriously today I ate all meals out. Mostly.

I woke up at about 10am and was hungry of course. My sister, Hannah, texted me at 11am before I even got up out of bed telling me that we were going to Bennu (a nearby wonderful restaurant) for lunch.

I had some yogurt to hold me over…with PUMPKIN!

Mommy bought this for me after I told her I wanted to make some pumpkin oatmeal! How nice she is! Thank you, Sandy. I added it to yogurt and not oatmeal because oatmeal fills me up and I didn’t want to be filled up for lunch, ya digg?

“Alright here I have the Hot Tamale.”

I said, “That’s mine, thank you.”

He replies, “You are what you eat!” and then ran off.

Fast forward to Dinner with my best fraaand, Sarah …Sushi it is!

I ordered a salad to start (not pictured because I forgot, silly me), some random sushi plate (above) along with a Salmon Skin Role (below).

I am so thirsty after this meal, musta been real saltaay!

We had no problem demolishing.

Alas, we always leave room for dessert.

Our favorite: MOCHI ICE CREAM!

I may have had some more snackies later on. I feel as though I consumed too much sugar and salt today. That’s whatchya get for eating out, especially the sodium.

Tomorrow is a new day and I plan on going to the gym & eating well. I want to run so badly but the weather suuuuucks.

We bought New Years dresses at the mall today. Who knows where we’ll be, but Sarah and I are determined to find something extravagant to attend…haha. Suggestions?

Back to Normal

Yesterday (the day after Christmas) was definitely a relaxing day. I’ve been hearing that consensus from lots of people. I definitely wanted to make sure I didn’t succumb to all of the holiday leftovers, especially since I had the time to make my own food. The past few days was a huge sugar binge which resulted in tiredness and headaches. Time to get back to normal.

For breakfast I ate an egg white omelet with tomatoes, spring mix, and feta, along with an orange. I let myself digest for about 1.5-2 hours and then went for a run in the cold. My post-workout snack (lunch) was some fat free greek Oikos yogurt.

Green tea on the side to warm me up.

I topped the yogurt with blueberries, canned pineapple, Go Lean Crunch (Kashi cereal), Vanilla Extract (stirred in) and Cinnamon.

I don’t love nonfat greek yogurt, but I loved eating this.

For dinner I wanted to incorporate roasted veggies (my favorite).

While these cooked I prepared a salad and snacked on dried papaya.

I love this stuff, the texture is addicting.

Salad preparings:

Spring mix with chopped sharp chedder cheese & homemade dressing.

It would’ve been delicious just like this.

But alas, I needed more protein so I added chopped chicken and some veg.

That’s a large plate, people. So yum.

Later on I had more papaya, piece of dark chocolate, hummus & crackers, and nuts. I was starving after not eating any cookies, candy, etc. all day.

Apple Pie

And the last flavor of yogurt I had the pleasure of eating this morning:

Apple Pie!

This is my favorite one yet! It has actual apple in it and once again, this breakfast could definitely pass as a dessert.

My sweet tooth just seems to get sweeter and sweeter on a daily basis. It’s all I ever want.

Topped the yogurt with fruit & nut granola and cinnamon.

I wanted more.

Instead I had two gingernut cookies…

Love the crunch and zing of these.

I woke up at about 5:20am because I felt pretty icky. I don’t know why this happens occasionally… nausea and body aches. I don’t like it! It reminds me too much of my Mono days. Ew.

I’m not feeling 100% better since awakening three hours ago, but the gingernut cookies definitely didn’t hurt 😉

Cheesecake for Breakfast

That’s right. Classic Cheesecake for brekky.

Along with some chocolaty, nutty granola.

Looks like it’s stickin’ together like an actual bar!!!

Ah but then it crumbled as I took it out of the container. Not a problem.

I also added heaps of flax, almonds and cinnamon (even though the granola contains all of these ingredients). I wanted more.

After satisfyingly creating my concoction, I turned on the news and enjoyed in my swimsuit. To be clear, I enjoyed my yogurt. NOT the news – I hate hate hate the news but it’s the only thing that’s on in the morning (we get approx. 5 channels).

Then I ate half of this Pink Lady:

I only ate half because I don’t love it. These apples were on sale, no wonder. Darnit! Maybe I’ll cook up the rest on the stove with some cinnamon. Sounds good.

P.S. I said I was watching the news in my swimsuit because the sun is out and shining bright. It’s also very hot (about 80°F). I laid by the pool for about two hours and dove into the pool a few times because I was sweating horrendously. I might consider that my workout for the day. Ya know…cuz I sweated so much 😉

Breakfast in Bed

Ohh the luxury of creating a sweet dish and hopping in bed to enjoy it over an episode of Gossip Girl. This is the life.

The hardest decision of the day already occurred at approximately 7:59am when deciding which yogurt flavor to choose. Sticky date won after much contemplation. It has a butterscotch taste, which I totally accept.

I topped my yogurt with a piece of the granola bar I made yesterday (it stuck together better than I thought it would!!!), along with almonds, a crumbled gingernut cookie and cinnamon. The granola bar was a perfect pairing with this sticky date flavor.

This, my friends, was an extraordinarily sweet bowl of yum. My kinda breakfast: creamy, crunchy and definitely passable as a dessert. Perfection at its finest.

Last night I went for a very long walk and it was fabulous. Going on walks is like…my favorite thing ever. It’s exercising in the most relaxing form (although I power-walk like no other). It’s still soothing to me; smelling the different scents of nature, looking at the beautiful flowers and avoiding weird-looking Australia bugs. Yesterday I had the pleasure of taking in the sweet smell of summer rain.

The weirdest part of my walk was the butterflies. Literally, there were butterflies stalking me and circling me the whole time. It was really cool but also very scary at the same time. I kept thinking, “WTF is going on…!?” So weird.

Before my walk, I had some din!

Sautéed lentils, cannellinis, zucchini, onions, tomatoes, basil, salt, pepper, EVOO.

SO simple yet very delectable. I’m not a lover of cooked tomatoes, but I threw them in very last with the basil to slightly cook them. This is something I’d like to make again. I threw this together unexpectedly (LOVE when it actually works out & tastes great).

If you make something like this – top with parm. Cheese makes everything better and trust me, if I had it I’d use it. Especially on dinners like this.

I Heart Grocery Shopping

Seriously I love it. More than anything!!! I knowww I knowww I have no money. I do own a couple credit cards though… necessities are necessities.

The thing is, I am leaving in just about a week. I really didn’t want to buy more food before leaving but I honestly only have two oranges, a couple lemons and part of a zucchini & cucumber left. OH and a frozen burger.

I cannot live off of that nonsense for more than a day. Therefore, I convinced myself to get minimal needs for the rest of my time here. But then I walked into Woolworths…

Necessary? No. But they were cheap AND in the health food section. They really aren’t bad…gluten & dairy free (not that those are concerns) and about 60 calories for two cookies. Plus they get me into the Christmas spirit! Oh yes they are totallllly necessary.

I was actually planning on buying yogurt because it is a staple for me and these were on sale! Holla.

Haven’t had soy beans in the longest time and when I saw this combo I nearly drooled thinking about them in my yogurt. Necessity.

I laugh at myself on a daily basis. Here’s one of the reasons. I literally scared the woman next to me as I jumped to grab these when I saw this decent-sized bag was only $1.99! PRUNES…. I know.

I also bought lettuce, two mangos, three apples, two onions, and some garlic.

I had it in the back of my mind that I wanted to make granola (bars). They’ll be perfect for travels and I can eat them with my new delicious yogurt. So I went to town.

In this chocolaty/peanut buttery bar we have: oats, peanuts, almonds, cinnamon, pinch of  salt, vanilla extract, chopped dark chocolate, chopped ginger cookie (had to), tahini & honey (as the binder). These are more likely to stay together as actual bars, unlike these:

Yeah I’m thinking this is going to turn into granola. I was too anxious to carefully stir it all together correctly and I don’t think they’ll stick. We’ll see tomorrow, though.

They contain: oats, almonds, prunes, cinnamon, vanilla extract, pinch of salt, tahini & honey (as the binder), chopped gingernut cookie, and a majority of the goji/soy nut/etc. trail mix.

I snacked so hard on all of these delightful treats, therefore I will have a very light din. Maybe cottage cheese and something else. Unconventional, per usual… But I haven’t had cottage cheese in like- 6 months! Craving it.

I didn’t blog at all yesterday (and barely today) because I have been eating the same meals: oatmeal, yogurt, salads, blah blah blah. What can I say – I don’t like being a bore! Also, I will no longer be having oatmeal for brekky (sad face) because I used the rest of my oats on these damn granola bars. No worries, I will demolish them in no time. Probs for breakfast.

Unconventional

Guess where I went tonight? To the gym to take a class, even though I previously decided against it!!! I am very proud of myself for going, rain and all.

Wow the animals and bugs that come out when it’s wet outside. Frogs, slugs, worms… all of which are extremely large. They disturb me.

I arrived to the gym about a half hour early because I honestly had nothing better to do. So, I went across the street to the mall and looked around Coles. Yes with a whole mall at my fingertips, I chose the grocery store. It’s who I am. I stole grabbed a date and I’m so glad I did because I didn’t have a pre-workout snack. Do you like dates? Oh my oh my they are like candy.

There were only 3 of us in class. It was pretty much a personal training sesh cuz the teacher was working with me the entire time (cuz I am the only one who’s never taken it before). The instructor was a very nice Latino man, half the time I couldn’t understand what he was yelling out over the incredibly loud spanish music. We ended on a Madonna song, which really surprised me (and made me laugh heavily on the inside).

The class consisted of a serious amount of all sorts of kicking and punching. Which makes lots of sense seeing as it’s called Fit Combat. Before tonight I was still sore from my workout on Monday, now I am going to be completely donezo… can’t wait for that feeling tomorrow. It was definitely fun and a nice way to switch up my usual routine at the gym.

I’m pretty sure Mr. Instructor man was offended when he saw me on the treadmill afterwards. Little did he know, I was only trying to cool down to tame my bright red face before entering the weight area (you have you cross through in order to get to the locker room/bathroom). Is it a law that hot males must attend the gym only at nighttime? I’m going to say it is because DANG there were more than a handful of good looking young aussies tossing around iron tonight. I’m definitely a morning gym-goer but I might have to rethink that…

I wasn’t really hungry when I got home. Post-workout food is very important though so I made a nice little unconventional din. Let the phone camera pix commence:

It tasted very refreshing though. Cocoa powder + vanilla yogurt = pudding-like yumminess. I was thinking about having just this for dinner, but then I realized I should have broccoli and zucchini for good measure.

It’s suppose to rain until I depart. What is the point of being in Australia for another week when it’s just going to rain? Seriously, I have nothing to do but lay in the sun and now I don’t even have that. Dag nabbit!
